    • 1). Double-click on the "Photoshop" icon to launch the program. Press the keys "Ctrl" and "N" to create a new file.

    • 2). Navigate to the "Layers" box and press the "New Layer" button. Type the name "Character Outline" and press the "Enter" key.

    • 3). Click on the "Brush" tool, then on a black color swatch. Draw several connected, tall triangles to create the character's spiked hair. At the ends of the triangle, draw a rounded semi-circle.

    • 4). Connect the semi-circle to an oval head with a pointed chin. Attach the chin to the wide shoulders, long arms, angular torso and wide legs. Add the details, such as the eyes, nose and clothing. Depending on which character you draw, the specific clothing and dimensions vary. Use a screen shot from "Dragon Ball Z" as a reference.

    • 5). Navigate to the "Layers" box and press the "New Layer" button. Type the name "Character Color" and press the "Enter" key.

    • 6). Color the outline. Click on the "Bucket" tool, then on the swatch of an appropriate color. Left-click inside the appropriate area to fill it with color. For example, fill Goku's hair with an off-black color.

    • 7). Click on the "Windows" menu and scroll to "Animation". Press the "Add Frame" button. Inside the new frame, erase the potion of the character you wish to animate. Redraw and color the character in a new position. For example, erase Goku's arm and move it upward slightly.

    • 8). Continue adding frames with slight changes until you complete the animation.

    • 9). Time the animation. Place your cursor below the bottom, right corner of the frame, within the "Animation" window. Click on the arrow to the right of "1 sec" and scroll to a new time, such as "2.0". Repeat the process for every frame.
