    • 1). Ascertain that the toner container needs to be replaced. When the printer is low on toner, it will display the message "Toner low" as a warning. This is a good time to make sure that you have a new toner container in hand. Just before the toner is gone, the printer will display the message "Replace toner."

    • 2). Remove storage media from the area in order to avoid demagnetizing them.

    • 3). Lift up the top cover of the printer. Find the lock lever on the toner container and push it to the right to right to release the container.

    • 4). Pull out the toner container. Use both hands, since you don't want to tip it and risk spilling toner.

    • 5). Put the toner container you removed in the plastic bag.

    • 6). Remove the new toner container from the toner kit carton.

    • 7). Rock the new toner container back and forth gently at least 10 times. This motion distributes the toner evenly within the container.

    • 8). Grip the label in the front of the toner container firmly and pull it out of the toner container.

    • 9). Set the new toner container in the cavity from which you removed the old one. Push down on the top of the container on either side using two hands so that it is firmly seated.

    • 10

Close the top cover of the printer.

When you replace the toner container, you must replace the used toner box at the same time. Open the cover at the back of the left side of the printer.

    • 15

Open the cap of the new waste box by flipping it downward.

    • 16

Put the new waste toner box in the space from which you took out the old one. When it is seated correctly, it will click into place. Close the cover.

    • 17

Open the top cover of the printer and the multi-purpose (MP) tray below it. Lift out the developer unit and the toner container.

    • 18
