How to Turn on the Clicking Sound on My Mouse Pointer
- 1). Make sure that your computer's sound output is not muted. If your computer has external speakers, turn them on. Check the speaker-shaped icon on the lower-right corner of the screen to confirm that it does not have a red circle over it, which indicates that your computer's sound is muted. If you do see a red circle, click the speaker-shaped icon, then remove the check from the box labeled "Mute" (or click the "Mute" button, depending on your version of Windows). If the sound returns when you press the mouse button, you do not need to continue performing the steps in this article.
- 2). Click the "Start' button in the lower left corner of the monitor, then choose "Control Panel."
- 3). Click "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices" if you are running Windows XP or "Hardware and Sound" if you are running Windows Vista or 7.
- 4). Click "Sounds and Audio Devices" in Windows XP, or "Change System Sounds" in Windows Vista and 7.
- 5). Click the "Sounds" tab if it is not selected already.
- 6). Find "Start Navigation" under the "Windows Explorer" category on the list of sounds, and click to highlight it.
- 7). Click the drop-down menu under "Sounds" and select "Windows XP Start" or "Windows Navigation Start."
- 8). Click "OK." Windows now plays a clicking sound when you navigate in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer.
