How to Copy a DVD to a Hard Drive in Windows

    Clone DVD

    • 1). Open your web browser and visit Clone DVD's free trial download page. Click the "Download" button and wait for download to complete. Open the ".exe" install file and run the installation process. Open Clone DVD.

    • 2). Insert your DVD into your computer. Plug your hard drive into your USB or FireWire port and turn it on.

    • 3). Click the "Target" field at the top of the screen. Highlight the hard drive you want to copy the DVD to and click "OK."

    • 4). Click the "Source" box at the top-left of the screen to open a new Windows Explorer screen. Select your DVD and click "OK."

    • 5). Check the "DVD-Video Size" in the bottom-right of the screen. (Clone DVD automatically detects the size of your DVD). Click the "Start" button in the lower-right corner to begin copying a DVD to your hard drive.

    DVD Fab

    • 1). Open your Internet application and visit DVD Fab's download page. Click the "Download Trial/Update" link to download the software and run through the installation process. Launch DVD Fab.

    • 2). Insert your DVD into your computer. Plug your hard drive into the appropriate port on your computer. Turn on your hard drive.

    • 3). Click the "Clone" option in the left panel on DVD Fab's main menu. Your DVD automatically should appear in the "Source" field at the top of the screen. If not, click the down arrow and select your DVD.

    • 4). Click the "Target" drop-down arrow. Select your hard drive. The program now knows to save the DVD to your hard drive.

    • 5). Click "Start" to begin copying your DVD.

    • 1). Purchase the latest version of 1 Click DVD Copy from its main web page. Double-click the downloaded ".exe" file to install the file. Insert your DVD into your computer and open 1 Click DVD Copy.

    • 2). Plug your hard drive into the proper port on your computer and turn it on.

    • 3). Click the "Destination" drop-down arrow in 1 Click DVD Copy's main interface. Choose your hard drive as your destination.

    • 4). Click "Save" to begin the copying process.
