How to Remove a Corrupted Directory in a Flash Drive

    • 1). Connect the flash drive to your computer. Once your computer recognizes it, remove all the files that you do not want deleted from your flash drive and store them on your computer or another flash drive. This will leave only the corrupted directory.

    • 2). Click on the "Start" button on your computer to open your "Start" menu. You can also do this by pushing the "Windows" key located next to the spacebar on your keyboard.

    • 3). Click on the "Computer" or "My Computer" option that is displayed on right column of options in the Start menu. You will see a list of devices connected to your computer.

    • 4). Right-click on the flash drive that has the corrupted directory on it. From the right-click menu, click on the "Format" option.

    • 5). Click on the "Quick Format" option from the list of formatting options and then click "OK."
