How to Restore a Computer to Factory Settings by Pressing F
- 1). Back up important files to a disk.
- 2). Insert your restore disk, if your computer came with one.
- 3). Shut down your computer.
- 4). Turn your computer back on.
- 5). Watch for a prompt to enter the systems restore menu. It will ask you to press "F11." This will take you into the restore directory. In some cases, you might need to press "F11" and "Control" at the same time.
- 6). Select the option you want. There will be a small description. One will back up files and put them in a folder that you can find on your computer and then restore the factory settings. If you choose this option, there is no need to download any files to a disk before you start the restore process. The other option wipes the computer clean and restores the factory settings.
- 7). Follow the directions on the screen. This will take awhile. The computer might ask if you want to proceed or keep a certain file. Select "OK" or "yes" and continue until it says that it is finished.
