Amano Pix-10 Information
- The Amano PIX-10 time recorder has a print display, a print slot for time-card insertion, a digital clock, a time-change button, an enter button, a print margin, a reset switch, and a key that opens the case to allow access to the clock mechanism and to change the printer cartridge. The cartridges can still be purchased online as of late 2011.
- Because the Amano PIX-10 is a basic model, the standard date stamp is year, month, date and time. The recorder has 20 options for date, time stamp layout, which can be changed by entering an appropriate code through an 11-step process. Setting or changing the time is a five-step process. This recorder does adjust for Daylight Saving Time, a fact that was a popular selling feature.
- Changing the print cartridge in the Amano PIX-10 time recorder is a six-step process that requires you to unlock the case for access to the print mechanism. The print cartridge, which is called a "ribbon cassette," is an inked ribbon similar to the type used in older typewriters. Removing and replacing this cassette is somewhat intuitive, but you must press a reset button every time you replace a cassette. The process can be messy, as you have to turn a knob on the ribbon cassette to take up the slack from the installation process.
- Because the PIX-10 has a simple task to perform, there isn’t a lot that can go wrong with it. You can have a stuck cassette, an empty cassette, a print error or a time stamp error. If a print code error appears on the display, unplug the recorder, and then plug it in again. If it is a print error, replace the ribbon cassette. If the recorder still doesn’t work, you can call the Amano toll-free number on the bottom of the machine for assistance.
