How to Record from VLC to a CPU
- 1). Download and install VLC media player from its website.
- 2). Select the "Media" menu and choose "Convert/Save."
- 3). Click "Add" and find the file you wish to convert.
- 4). Click the arrow icon next to the "Convert/Save" option. From the menu, select "Stream." This will bring up a new dialog box.
- 5). Double-check the file name listed under "Source." If the correct file is listed here, click "Next."
- 6). Choose "File" on the drop-down menu next to the "New destination" field and click "Add."
- 7). Navigate to the part of your computer where you would like to save the destination file. Enter a file name with the proper extension for your final output file.
- 8). Check the "Activate Transcoding" option and choose the file format you wish to save to.
- 9). Click "Stream" and verify that VLC is playing. Though no video or audio will be displayed on your computer, the file will instead be "played" to your hard drive.
