    • 1). Open the Windows Computer Management Console. From the Start menu, click the "Computer Management" icon in the Administrative Tools subfolder of the Accessories folder.

    • 2). Select "Disk Management" from the left side of the Computer Management window. A list of drives installed on the computer will appear in the main window. Select the drive to partition.

    • 3). Right-click over unused space on the selected drive. Choose "new partition" from the context menu that appears.

    • 4). Follow the instructions in the New Partition Wizard, and then set the size of the new partition in megabytes. Click "next" to proceed.

    • 5). Choose the formatting option for the new partition. Most modern Windows machines use the NTFS format. Click "next" when complete.

    • 6). Confirm the partition and format settings, and then click "finish" to complete the operation.
