How do I Change the BIOS on an Eee PC 1000HE?
- 1). Open your Web browser and navigate to the Asus Support website. Click the "Select Product" drop-down menu and select "Eee Family." Click the "Select Series" drop-down and select "Eee PC." Click the "Select Models" drop-down and select "Eee PC 1000HE." Click "Search."
- 2). Select your operating system from the drop-down menu and click "Search."
- 3). Click the "+" next to "BIOS" to reveal the options. You should select the latest BIOS update, unless tech support has directed you to select a specific BIOS version. Click one of the download sources for the BIOS you want to install and save it to your computer.
- 4). Run the ASUSUpdate utility, located in the Asus program group on your computer. If you can't find the program, or if it is no longer installed, the program is included on the support CD that came with the 1000HE.
- 5). Click the drop-down menu and select the option "Update BIOS from File." Click "Next.
- 6). Click the "Open" button and locate the BIOS update file you downloaded from the website. Click "Open."
- 7). Make sure all programs are closed and that the computer is running on AC power and click "Update." From this point on, it is extremely important that you do not stop the update process until it completes. Stopping the process before it finishes can leave your computer unable to boot.
