You need to dig a hole deep and wide around the place where you are planting the running type of bamboo plant.
Then you need to cover that area with concrete, steel or Polythene.
Also you need to cover the surface above the ground with the same otherwise they would grow above the ground.
After doing this, their growth can be contained.
• But in case of Clumping Bamboo, you are spared of such problems.
If the shoots above are spreading to your dislike, you can just trim the shoot.
Then you won't have to worry about new shoots or the frequent quarrels with your neighbor.
Even in the clumping type of plants, a lot of varieties are present to choose from.
As the clumping type grow closer to each other, they can make a good natural private screen in your backyard or over the hedge.
