    Creating a Data CD

    • 1). Insert a blank recordable CD into your computer's optical drive. After a moment, the drive spins up and Windows displays a prompt asking what you would like to do with the disc. Click "Burn files to data disc."

    • 2). Select the type of CD that you want to burn. If you select "Live File System," you can add more files to the disc later if you like. However, some computers cannot read this type of disc. If you select "Mastered," you cannot add additional files to the disc, but it will be compatible with a wider variety of computers. Click "Next" after making your choice. Windows displays a Windows Explorer window showing the blank disc.

    • 3). Drag the MP3 files into the blank disc folder and drop them.

    • 4). Click the "Burn to Disc" button to commit the files to the disc after you are finished adding MP3 files.

    Creating an Audio CD

    • 1). Insert a blank recordable CD into your computer's optical drive and launch Windows Media Player.

    • 2). Click the "Burn" button at the top of the window. The right side of the window changes to show a visual representation of the amount of space remaining on the disc in the burner.

    • 3). Drag the songs that you want to include on the audio CD and drop them in the area labeled "Drag items here to create a burn list" under the CD diagram. Stop when you have added all your songs, or when the CD diagram is full.

    • 4). Click the "Start Burn" button to burn the audio CD.
