How to System Restore in DOS Mode
- 1). Turn on your computer.
- 2). Press and hold down the "F8" key while your computer is starting up, ensuring that your computer boots to the DOS menu, in safe mode.
- 3). Click on the "Safe mode with command prompt option." You will need to use the arrow keys to highlight this option first and then press the "Enter" key.
- 4). Select the operating system that you are using such as Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. Again, you will need to use the arrow keys to highlight your operating system and then hit "Enter."
- 5). Log on as the administrator of the computer and type in your password if you have one. If you don't, continue to the next step.
- 6). Type "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" when the command prompt option pops up and then press the "Enter" key.
