Instructions for Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop Computer
- 1). Connect the laptop's AC adapter to the port located on the rear panel of the device. Check the underside of the laptop to confirm that the battery is properly installed.
- 2). Find the display latch release button, located on the front edge of the laptop. Press the button and lift the display open.
- 3). Press the power button, located just above the keyboard. When prompted, log into Windows. Move the cursor icon by pressing your fingertip on the touch pad, located beneath the keyboard; note that the bottom and right edges of the touch pad are used to scroll open windows horizontally and vertically, respectively.
- 4). Hold down the "Fn" key and press the up and down arrow keys to adjust the display brightness to a comfortable level. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "PageUp" and "PageDn" buttons to adjust the volume settings; to mute the volume, hold down the "Fn" key and press "End."
- 1). Open the "Start" menu and select the option labeled "Internet Explorer." Wait for the "New Connection Wizard" window to appear.
- 2). Click on the button labeled "Connect to the Internet." Review the displayed options. If you received a setup CD from your ISP, select the option labeled "Use the CD I got from an ISP." If you received setup information, but no CD, select the option labeled "Set up my connection manually." Otherwise, select the option labeled "Choose from a list of Internet Service Providers (ISPs)."
- 3). Click on the button labeled "Next." Follow the onscreen instructions. When you see the "How do you want to connect to the internet?" message, select the appropriate option and click "Next." If you have setup information provided by your ISP, input the information when prompted.
- 1). Open the "Start" menu and select the option labeled "Control Panel."
- 2). Select the option labeled "Appearance and Themes." Locate the section labeled "or pick a Control Panel icon" and click on the option labeled "Display."
- 3). Locate the settings labeled "Color quality" and "Screen resolution." Experiment with different settings until you are satisfied with the results.
