How to Make a Computer Run Faster

    • 1). Run an anti-virus program, to find and remove any malicious programs and files. Make sure to also remove spyware, and adware. If you do not have a program that covers spy and adware, seek a free program on the internet, or purchase one.

    • 2). Clean up the internet clutter. Delete cookies, temporary internet files, and history trails. Go to start>control panel>internet options to do all of these things, on the general tab.

    • 3). Free up space on the hard drive by emptying the recycle bin, uninstalling programs you do not use, deleting unused shortcuts, etc. Go to start>all programs>accessories>system tools>disc cleanup to help you get rid of things your system does not need. This could be a time consuming process, and will also empty your recycle bin for you.

    • 4). Following the same line of commands, choose disc defragmenter, and defragment the computer's hard drive to increase response time, and efficiency. Analyze before defragmenting to be sure that the hard drive needs it to save time. When a defragmentation is required, leave the computer alone for a bit, and expect the process to be time consuming.
