How to Change Color Profiles in Adobe Photoshop
- 1). Open your image in Photoshop. Select "Edit>Color Settings" to display the current color profile of the photo in the "RGB Working Space." (RGB here refers to the three primary colors used to create all of the visible shades: red, green and blue.) The profile used for editing in Photoshop will often be "Adobe RGB" for an image from a digital camera. Close the dialog box.
- 2). Click "Edit>Convert to Profile" and select the destination profile you require in the drop-down box in "Destination Space." For an image for a website, this would be "sRGB," although it may be displayed with an additional complex name.
- 3). Select "Adobe(ACE)" as the engine and "Perceptual" as the intent in the "Conversion Options" box. Make sure that "Black Point Compensation" and "Use Dither" are also checked. Click "OK" to apply the new profile. Complete any further adjustments to brightness or contrast, and use "File>Save As" or "File>Save for web" to save a copy of your photo with the new color profile.
