Unplug the Ethernet cable that connects your computer to the cable modem from the computer. - 3). Connect the Ethernet cable you just unplugged from your computer into the Ethernet port on your wireless router labeled "WAN," "WLAN" or "Internet." The exact label on your router varies by manufacturer and modem model; there will only be one of these options on your router.
- 4). Plug in the cable modem's and wireless router's power supplies and wait two minutes.
- 5). Turn on your computer and log in to your user account.
- 6). Click on the wireless network reception icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the computer screen.
- 7). Select your home wireless network from the list and enter the password. The default name of a wireless network that hasn't been set up yet is usually the name of the router's manufacturer. For example, a wireless router made by D-link creates a wireless network named "dlink."
