How to Remove an HP Pavilion dv6000 CD-ROM Drive
- 1). Shut down the HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, disconnect the AC power cord and turn the laptop right side up with the battery bay closest to you.
- 2). Push the battery-release latch above the right side of the battery to the right to disengage the battery from the HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.
- 3). Locate the screw hole with the raised circle-shaped marking next to it. This is the screw that holds the optical drive in place. The screw hole is located just outside of the screw in the lower-right corner of the memory compartment cover. The memory compartment cover is the large rectangular cover in the middle of the laptop base.
- 4). Unscrew and remove the optical drive retention screw using a Philips-head screwdriver.
- 5). Grab the bottom edge of the optical drive along the rear right edge of the laptop and then pull the optical drive out of the laptop. The optical drive will slide out with little resistance.
