How to Disable CD Autoplay in XP
- 1). Install any available system updates. This may have been done automatically, depending on your settings. If not, visit the "Windows XP Software Updates" page (see "Resources") to get the system updates.
- 2). Click on the "Start" button in the bottom-left screen corner, and then on "My Computer."
- 3). Right click on the icon for your CD or DVD drive, and then on "Properties." Go to the "AutoPlay" tab in the "Properties" window.
- 4). Determine the computer's response to each type of disc by selecting the disc type from the dropdown menu at the top, checking "Select an action to perform" and selecting "Take no action."
- 5). Click "OK" when you have chosen the action associated with each disc type.
