How to Set Up a Boot Disk
- 1). Go to the Microsoft website and download the boot disk program for the appropriate version of your operating system. Microsoft offers XP Professional and Home versions as well as Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2.
- 2). Double-click the .exe file to launch the program.
- 3). Click "Yes" when prompted with the license agreement.
- 4). Type the letter "A" and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard when prompted to choose a floppy drive on your computer.
- 5). Insert your first blank floppy disk into your floppy drive.
- 6). Press any key on your keyboard to begin the boot disk creation process.
- 7). Insert a new blank disk each time you are prompted by the program. You will need six disks to complete the process.
- 8). Label each disk by number. You will need to insert the disks in numeric order to properly use them on startup.
- 9). Insert the first disk into your drive and reboot your computer to use the floppy as a boot disk.
