How to Build a Toy Paddle Boat
- 1). Cut out a square shape from a piece of waxed cardboard, like a produce box. Make the square 4 inches long on each side.
- 2). Shape one side of the paddle boat to a point by cutting away the corners. Use this end as the front of your toy paddle boat, otherwise known as the bow.
- 3). Remove a piece that measures 2 inches square from the middle of the side opposite your paddle boat's bow. Cut a separate piece of cardboard to 1 inch by 2 inches to use as the paddle for your toy boat.
- 4). Stretch a rubber band around the back end of the paddle boat. Insert the paddle piece between the two pieces of rubber band that meet at the 2-inch square cut out section.
- 5). Rotate the paddle piece inside the rubber band toward the back of the boat to wind the paddle before launching your boat. Set your paddle boat in shallow water and release the wound up paddle to make your boat sail forward.
