• Purchasing the proper crafting materials will ensure that you and your children have everything you need for your wood cross crafts. Popsicle sticks are great for gluing together into a cross shape, wooden boxes are wonderful for painting and wooden beads can be strung together with wire in a cross-formation. You might even look for unfinished wood boxes, ornaments and magnets in a cross shape at your local craft store. Be sure to have wood paints, acrylic sealants, yarn, white glue and hot glue on hand. • With your crafting materials purchased and organized, sit down with your children to brainstorm a variety of cross-themed crafting possibilities. Begin by asking your children to think and talk about what the cross means to them. Gaining a deeper understanding of the cross will help to ensure that their finished craft projects match the message they want to send. Next, ask them to write down craft ideas and sketch them out on paper. One child might create a floral cross on an unfinished wood box, while another makes cross bookmarks out of Popsicle sticks and paint, and yet another child creates purple and gold ornaments to be hung on your Christmas tree. Begin Crafting

• With clear crafting ideas on paper, have the children cover the crafting table with plastic and set up their crafting supplies.
