Posters are a simple way to decorate for Halloween without interfering with a room's space: hang them on the wall, and they set the eerie mood. Although Halloween-themed posters can often be purchased, do-it-yourself Halloween posters can be a seasonal craft project for all ages, for decorating the classroom, workplace or home. - Use a full sheet of orange poster board to make a cut-out Jack-o-lantern face, with yellow tissue paper taped to the back to show through the holes. Just like with a real pumpkin, try and come up with the craziest design. Alternately, black poster board can be used: cut out the moon and back it with white tissue; paint a scene with opaque poster paints.
- Use neon paints on black poster board to create posters that glow under black light. Paint green monster faces, wandering ghouls or elaborate sugar skulls. These can be hung indoors or on the front porch on Halloween night with a black light shining on them.
- Paint life-sized headstones on a full piece of poster board, and embellish them with painted cracks, spiderwebs and humorous epitaphs (make up your own, or use one from the Web). Hang them at floor level or above a table against the wall.
- Draw outlines of ghosts that cover most of a full-size piece of black poster board. Cut out the shapes with scissors. Tape them to the walls or even the windows so that the shapes are visible from outside at night.
