How to Wire Wrap a Pendant
- 1). Cut a length of wire appropriate to bead size. A 1/2-inch diameter bead will need about 6 inches of wire, according to wire jewelry artist Linda Jones, in her book "Creating Wire and Beaded Jewelry."
- 2). Curl the end of the wire. Place an end in the round-nose pliers, then create a small circle by wrapping it around once.
- 3). Form a flat spiral. Hold the small circle in the flat-nose pliers, then curl the wire around itself several times.
- 4). Repeat, creating a curl and flat spiral at the other end of the wire. Coil in the opposite direction, to form an S shape. Continue coiling until ends meet in the middle.
- 5). Fold one spiral on top of the other and flatten, using the flat-nose pliers.
- 6). Make a loop on one side. Use the round-nose pliers to pull the center circle from one spiral outward, bending it at a 90-degree angle. This is the loop you'll use to hang your pendant.
- 7). Open the center of the cage. Using both pliers, pull the spirals' centers in opposite directions to open the space. Even out the spaces between the spirals.
- 8). Place your selected bead in the middle. Gently press the wire cage around the bead, using your fingers to prevent bending the wire or scratching your bead.
