How to Remove Paint From a Brass Bed
- 1). Remove the mattress and bedding from the brass bed. Move the bed outdoors or to a ventilated area.
- 2). Remove loose or peeling paint from the brass bed using a pressure washer equipped with a low-pressure tip. Wait two to three hours for the brass to dry.
- 3). Scrape as much paint from the brass bed as possible using a plastic putty knife.
- 4). Apply paint-stripping solvent to the brass bed using a paintbrush specifically engineered for use with oil paints.
- 5). Wait a 50 to 60 seconds for the stripping solvent to break down the adhesives in the paint. Scrape away the remaining paint from the brass bed using the plastic putty knife. Scrape paint from awkward areas using a wire brush, 80-grit sandpaper, a dental pick and a wire detail brush. Continue until you have stripped the brass bare.
- 6). Rinse the brass bed using the pressure washer.
