    • 1). Use a piston converter to flush the pen's nib and feed. Fill the piston converter with cold water and use it flush the pen with the water. This should clear a majority of the ink buildup. Do this regularly--once every 30 days.

    • 2). Put the ink pen in a glass of cold water and let it sit for 24 hours--but make sure that water isn't getting into the rest of the pen. This should loosen the remaining buildup. Run the tip of the pen under cold water, protecting the rest of the pen with a towel or cloth. Run water through the pen with a piston converter one more time if there is still buildup.

    • 3). Dry the nib and the feed of the pen with a can of air, so that any water gets cleared before it causes problems. The pen should now be dry and clear of all debris.
