    • 1). Run a bead of glue along the long edge of the plywood. Lay the 1-inch piece of poplar on top of the glue. Use the pin nailer and 1 1/4-inch nails to fasten the poplar flush to the edge of the poplar. This is the fence of the sled.

    • 2). Lay the 1/4-inch piece of hardwood in the miter gauge slot flush with the edge closest to you. Run a light bead of glue along the edge of the hardwood.

    • 3). Lay the plywood down on top of the scroll saw table, on top of the hardwood strip. Flush the plywood sled with the back edge of the scroll saw table. The sled should be extended past the left side of the blade by 3/4-inch. Let the plywood remain on the table for 10-minutes until the glue on the strip sets up.

    • 4). Pick up the sled carefully and turn it upside down on a worktable. Use the pin nailer and 3/4-inch nails to fasten the hardwood strip to the plywood.

    • 5). Turn the sled upright and place it on the scroll saw table with the hardwood strip inserted into the miter gauge slot. Turn on the saw. Push the plywood sled forward and allow the blade to cut off the end of the sled flush. Remove the cutoff piece before using the sled.
