    Lampshade

    • Choose a plain lamp that you already own, or purchase one with an undecorated shade from a furniture or thrift store. Select the most attractive sand dollars from your collection and use a hot glue gun to fasten these to the lampshade. Arrange the sand dollars in an attractive design. For example, you can place them in rows around the lampshade, beginning with the smallest shells at the top and finishing with the largest at the bottom. If the shade is made from a material that will melt with heat, you can use another strong adhesive such as super glue to attach the decorations.

    Wall Decorations

    • Purchase strong adhesive putty designed for use on walls that will not damage paint or wallpaper. Attach large globs of the putty to the bottoms of sand dollars. Use sticky notes to map out the design you will create on your wall with these natural and unique ornaments. For example, you may wish to try out a geometrical pattern with the sticky notes, or you may wish to arrange them at random, or in small clumps in different parts of the room. Once you are satisfied, replace each sticky note with a sand dollar. Press gently when attaching the shells to the wall to avoid cracking them.

    Windowsill Ornaments

    • Use sand dollars to decorate your windowsills. Clear clutter and dust away from these spaces, and arrange your sand dollars in attractive designs. For example, you could cover a windowsill entirely with sand dollars, or you could place them at evenly spaced intervals across the length of the sill. If you find that the sand dollars slip or are knocked down by blowing curtains, you can secure them by making a loop of tape and placing it between each disc and the windowsill.

    Candle

    • Create a sea-inspired candle by decorating it with sand dollars. Choose small sand dollars from your collection and heat the bottoms for several seconds by holding them close to a candle’s flame. Quickly press the sand dollars into the side of the candle. The warmth will cause the wax to melt slightly. Press the sand dollar in place until it has bonded with the wax and sticks in place on its own. Repeat until you have achieved an attractive design. For example, you can place a ring of sand dollars around the center of the candle, or you can place one or two in random locations.
