Shrimp Flower Care
- Full sun or bright indirect light is best for the shrimp plant. It thrives well as an indoor plant with a west, east or south window exposure.
- Well-drained soil is best for the shrimp plant. However, it requires more water during the hot, summer months to maintain its blooms.
- Prune the tips of the shrimp flower plant to keep it from sprawling over the entire flower bed or becoming unwieldy as a potted plant. Pruning will also increase the amount of blooms. Cut the plant back about 4 or 5 inches in the months of February or March, before it starts blooming in the spring.
- The shrimp plant is a perennial evergreen plant that does well outdoors in mild, warm climates. For climates that experience frigid temperatures during the winter months it is best grown in a pot or hanging basket in order to bring it indoors during the cold weather.
