How to Reinstall Windows Mobile 6
- 1). Download and install Microsoft ActiveSync (see Resources). Click "Download ActiveSync 4.5," save the file to your computer, then double-click the file to install it. If the computer runs Windows Vista or 7, click the download links for either operating system.
- 2). Connect the mobile device's USB cable to the computer and to the phone. Wait several seconds to allow the computer to recognize the device. A pop-up balloon should appear near the clock at the bottom of the screen. ActiveSync's setup wizard will automatically appear.
- 3). Click "Next" and select "Contacts." Click "Next" twice more and the wizard will back up the phone's contacts automatically.
- 1). Locate the specific device's "hard reset" instruction by searching the Hard Reset Guide (see References).
- 2). Reset the phone by following the specific device instructions. For example, users of the T-Mobile Dash should turn off the phone, hold both "soft keys" (the keys with dashes in them, next to the "Send" and "End" buttons) and press the "Power" button.
- 3). Release the buttons after two seconds. A confirmation message will appear and the reset process will begin. Power on the phone after the reset completes.
- 4). Open ActiveSync by clicking "Start," "Programs" and "ActiveSync." The wizard will appear.
- 5). Click "Next" and select "Contacts." Click "Next" twice and the wizard will upload the phone's contacts automatically.
