Windows Mobile 5 Information
- Windows Mobile 5 was first released at Microsoft's Mobile and Embedded Developers Conference in 2005, and it was originally code-named Magneto. The predecessor to Windows Mobile 5 was Windows Mobile 2003 SE, released in 2004. The Windows Mobile 5 operating system was first offered on the Dell Axim x51 personal digital assistant.
- Windows Mobile 5 features increased battery life due to persistent storage capacity, which doubles the available memory storage of the previous version. Windows Mobile 5 includes Photo Caller ID, Windows Media Player and enhanced Bluetooth support. The Windows Mobile 5 Office Mobile suite includes Word Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile and enhanced graphic capability in Excel Mobile. Windows Mobile 5 also contains the standard Mobile PIM (Personal Information Manager) suite, which includes calendar, tasks, notes and contact applications.
- Windows Mobile 5 does not recognize mobile touchscreens, or screens that register three or more simultaneous input touches. Windows Mobile 5 also does not allow users to view or display file extensions of unknown file types, or view File Explorer file properties.
