How to Replace a Starter on a 1996 Chrysler Concorde
- 1). Loosen the negative battery terminal on the car and pull the terminal away from the battery. Place the wheel chocks behind the rear tires.
- 2). Jack the car using the automobile jack and place a jack stand under the frame near the jacking point. Raise the jack stand to the frame.
- 3). Remove the three bolts that hold the starter to the engine using a socket and ratchet. Remove the starter away from the engine so you can gain access to the wires.
- 4). Remove the main wire from the starter using a wrench to remove the nut and then unplug the wire harness.
- 5). Pull the old starter away from the engine and put the new one into place. Reconnect the wires by plugging the wiring harness back in and securing the main wire back to the post, tightening the nut with a wrench.
- 6). Push the starter into place on the engine and start all three bolts by hand. Tighten the bolts using a socket and ratchet.
- 7). Remove the jack stand from under the car and lower the car back to the ground. Start the car to test the installation.
