How to Use a Dremel to Chisel Wood
- 1). Start with a block of wood about a foot high and at least 1/2 foot thick.
- 2). Sketch the basic design you want to chisel onto your wood block in pencil. Use a reference photo if you need to. The design doesn't need to be detailed. The design you place on your wood block will be a guide to follow as you chisel away wood.
- 3). Chisel the rough shape of your piece using a Dremel diamond wheel point or a tooth carbide cutter. Hold your Dremel at a slight angle and remove small sections of the wood at a time until you reach the design lines you drew in pencil.
- 4). Attach a sanding band to your Dremel and go over the edges of your piece to remove any of the rough bits of wood, then finish your chiseled work with an abrasive buff to add a polished look to the final piece.
