    • 1). Place a piece of paper horizontally on a flat drawing surface, landscape-style. Draw a horizontal line 5 inches long starting 2 inches below the top edge of the paper and 3 inches in from the left edge of the paper.

    • 2). Measure 1 inch to the left of the left end of the line and place a light pencil dot to mark the spot. Mark another spot on the horizontal line 1 inch to the left of the right end of the line. Lightly draw two straight, vertical lines, parallel to each other and the short edges of the sheet of paper at these marked spots.

    • 3). Draw a second horizontal line, 5 inches in length, parallel to the first line drawn in Step 1 and 1 1/2 inches below this line. Start this second horizontal line at the lightly drawn left vertical line. End the line when it meets the lightly drawn vertical line on the right.

    • 4). Draw a slanting line with the ruler connecting the left end of the bottom line to the left end of the top line. Draw another slanting line parallel to the first slanting line, connecting the right ends of the top and bottom lines to complete the upper surface of the desk.

    • 5). Start at the left end of the bottom horizontal line and draw a vertical line straight down 3 1/2 inches long, parallel to the left edge of the paper. Draw another vertical line straight down from the right end of the bottom horizontal line, 3 1/2 inches long, parallel to the right edge of the paper.

    • 6). Draw two more vertical, lines, 3 1/2 inches long, parallel to the two lines drawn in Step 5. Draw one of these lines 1 1/4 inches to the right of the first vertical line drawn on the left side, and draw the other line 1 1/4 inches to the left of the vertical line on the right side of the paper.

    • 7). Draw a horizontal line, 2 1/4 inches long, 1 1/4 inches below the bottom horizontal line, between the inner two vertical lines drawn in Step 6 to make the center desk drawer.

    • 8). Draw another horizontal line, 1 1/4 inches long, 1 inch below the bottom horizontal line, between the first two vertical lines drawn in Step 6 to form the top left drawer. Draw another horizontal line, 1 1/4 inches long, 1 inch below the bottom horizontal line, between the last two vertical lines, forming the top right drawer. Draw two more horizontal lines, 1 1/4 inches long, 1 inch below the lines drawn at the beginning of this step, forming the left and right middle drawers.

    • 9). Draw a 1/4-inch circle for a drawer handle for each drawer front, placing them 1/4 inch from the top edge of each drawer and 1/4 inch from each side edge of each drawer. Shade the inside of these circles.
