    • 1). Stretch a piece of window screening over the picture frame.

    • 2). Staple the screen to the frame so it is taut. The space inside the frame is the largest dimension of your homemade paper.

    • 3). Shred the old papers into small pieces 1 inch square by ripping or cutting with scissors.

    • 4). Add the paper to your blender, filling it halfway.

    • 5). Add warm water to the blender to cover all of the paper.

    • 6). Blend the paper in pulses until it looks like a smooth pulp.

    • 7). Pour the blended paper into your plastic tub. Blend and add more batches of pulp if desired.

    • 8). Put the screened frame into the tub. Layer pulp onto the screen with your hands. Fill the screen with a small amount of pulp if you wish to make thin paper or more pulp if you want the finished paper to be thick.

    • 9). Rub your hand back and forth over the pulp to smooth it and make it flat.

    • 10

Raise the frame slowly from the tub and hold it as water drips out.

    • 11

Place a piece of white felt or flannel over the pulp after the water stops dripping. Hold the fabric to the pulp as you turn the frame upside down.

    • 12

Set the frame on a flat surface with the fabric on the bottom, the pulp over it and the frame resting on top.

    • 13

Press a sponge down over the screen to help push the pulp toward the fabric and draw up extra water at the same time. Work over the entire surface of the screen with the sponge.

    • 14

Hold the fabric flat and slowly pull the frame up, leaving the paper pulp on the fabric.

    • 15

Place another fabric square over the pulp and put the layered fabrics and pulp between two cookie sheets or boards.

    • 16

Push the top cookie sheet down to press out excess water.

    • 17

Remove the top piece of fabric carefully to separate it from the paper.

    • 18

Place the paper and bottom fabric on a sheet of newspaper or hang it on a clothesline to dry. Peel away the fabric once the paper is fully dry.
