How to Remove Old Paint From Windows
- 1). Pour 2 tbsp. of liquid dish detergent into a small cleaning bucket. Fill the cleaning bucket with warm water to create soap suds.
- 2). Dampen a clean rag in the soapy solution. Wipe the rag over the glass to provide a slippery surface.
- 3). Scrape an inconspicuous area of the glass gently, using a sharp razor blade. Never scrape the blade across glass not covered with the soapy solution. If the scraping sounds gritty or coarse, find a different razor blade.
- 4). Scrape at the edge of the dried paint, with the razor blade at a 45-degree angle to the glass. Scrape the razor blade horizontally and vertically across the old paint. Continue to keep the glass slippery with the soapy solution while scraping.
- 5). Squirt glass-cleaning solution directly onto the glass, once the paint is completely removed. Wipe the window with paper towels.
