How to Dual Boot Linux With Vista
- 1). Download Ubuntu or one of many other Linux variations and burn it to CD to create a boot CD.
- 2). Prepare the partition. In laymen terms, free up enough hard drive space to run both operating systems. Navigate to the "Start" menu, right-click "My Computer," click "Manage" and "Disk Management." In the dialog box that pops up, click "Shrink." Shut down the computer.
- 3). Boot the computer from the Linux boot CD. To do this, repeatedly press F8 during the start-up process to enter the boot menu. Select "Boot From Disk."
- 4). Click the "Install Ubuntu" option on the main screen and follow the set-up process.
