How to Remove Makeup From a White Carpet
- 1). Work the edge of a butter knife underneath the makeup, if any solid material remains on top of the carpet. Lift the material off the white carpet surface with the knife. Do not press downward, which may shove the makeup into the carpet pile.
- 2). Dampen the edge of a clean white cloth with rubbing alcohol. Blot the stain four to five times. Dampen another, clean portion of the cloth and repeat the blotting motion. Continue to blot the stain until no more color comes out of the carpet and onto the cloth.
- 3). Add 1 tsp. of liquid dish soap to a bowl and pour in 1 cup of warm water. Use a clean cloth to continue blotting the stain with the soapy, warm water. This will remove any remaining makeup left in the fiber. Continue to blot until no more makeup is visible in the pile.
- 4). File a spray bottle with cold water. Spray the spot with the cold water to rinse off the soapy residue. Use another clean cloth or white towel to soak up the water.
- 5). Spray the spot once more with cold water from the spray bottle. Place 10 paper towels over the spot and weigh them down with a heavy brick or book. Leave them there for 24 hours to soak up all the remaining water.
