    • 1). Click the Windows XP "Start" menu item. Click "Printers" to view the printers installed on your computer. Right-click the printer you are sharing on the network and select "Properties".

    • 2). Click the "Security" tab. Click the "Add" button to add the Vista user to the printer permissions. In the opened window, type the name of the user into the text box and click "Check Name". This verifies that the user name exists on the computer's network settings.

    • 3). Check "Allow" to allow the user to print to the printer, and click "OK" to save the settings. Click "OK" again to save the permission settings. The Vista user now has permissions to print to the XP printer.
