Most files with extension .voc are in Creative Labs Voice format. The first 19 bytes in this format is "Creative Voice File".

There is another audio file format with the .voc file extension, which is RCA-VOC. RCA-VOC format is used by RCA Digital Voice Recorder, and is totally different from Creative Labs VOC format. For more detail, please read RCA-VOC Format.

VOC files can contain audio clips, musics, instrument sounds and sound effects that are used with the associated Creative Labs hardware device. The VOC file format is a compressed file format, allowing for a reduction in the size of the audio file.

How to open or play VOC files


VOC format is not a commonly used format, most popular player software(Windows Media Player, Quick Time, iTunes, etc) and devices(iPod, iPhone, Zune, etc) do not support this format. To play VOC files in these software or devices, you need convert them to popular formats such as WAV, MP3, M4A, etc.

To convert VOC files, you need just 3 steps:
  • 1. Add VOC files to Faasoft Video Converter.
  • 2. Select WAV, MP3 or M4A format in the profile list.

Edit VOC files (Optional)


  • To merge several VOC files into one: in the task list, select the VOC files that you want to merge; then in the context menu, click "Merge Selected into one". The merged file will show like "MergeX.mp3". You can double click the name to rename the merged file.

  • To increase output audio Volume: Click "Setting..." button, the "Advanced Settings" Window will pop up right beside the main window. In the "Advanced Settings" Window, click "Advanced" tab, and then go to "Audio" column, click 100% tab on the right side of volume to select preferable volume ratio from the drop-down list or just enter the desired volume ratio like 300%, 400%.

  • To only convert preferable audio segment, click "Trim" button to open the "Trim" Window. Then listen the clip and set the "Start Time" and "End Time" for your preferable VOC segment or just drag the slide bar to the accurate position to achieve it. Then click "OK" to apply the setting.
