Agoraphobia can be treated.
If one of the recovery techniques doesn't work, don't be afraid to try something else that can produce better results.
Herbal remedies are able to calm anxieties associated with agoraphobia.
In fact, two herbs namely Kava Kava and Valerian are often used.
1) Kava kava was used by natives in the South Pacific then passed on to Europe.
On average, the patient is given 300 mgs per day divided into two or three doses.
Before you try to use this herb, you should ask your doctor if this is safe for you to consume.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not drink it.
The same goes if you have Parkinson's or liver disease.
It should not be mixed with alcohol or other anxiety medications.
2) Valerian, comes from certain parts of Asia and Europe.
Unlike Kava Kava, the recommended dosage is around 400 to 900 mgs.
Other herbs that can also be used include chamomile, Ginkgo biloba, Ginseng, Hops, Lemon balm and St.
John's Wort.
Biofeedback is an alternative approach to therapy for agoraphobia because you are able to reduce anxiety symptoms in your body by being taking control of certain brain activity.
This works by being hooked up to an EEG or an electroencephalograph that is an electronic monitoring device.
How your brain behaves is then projected on a monitor and when you are able to lower your anxiety levels to a natural rhythm, you are one step closer to recovery.
There are some who believe that meditation can make you overcome agoraphobia.
For this to work, you will need to relax and concentrate so your mind and body may become one.
All you need to do is find a quiet environment, sit in a comfortable position, deep breathily and concentrate.
Your first session may last 5 minutes or less and then become longer as you progress.
You don't need a timer to measure how long you have been doing it because what is important is that when you open your eyes, you should already feel better.
E-Therapy is similar to CBT but has gone high tech because it is a software program that helps you deal with your anxieties so you are able to feel better.
Developed in the UK in 2004, it has already helped a lot of people and those who have tried it are quite satisfied.
