In addition, for additional security, you can use two holes for creating inner binding. You can use paper twine or a mallet for securing the knot.
Western Binding
Instead of Japanese, you can also use western binding method. It relies on the folded pages and signatures. By using this method, you will be able to make a book by stacking multiple signatures. Firstly, you need to make holes by punching each signature with an awl in three pairs. You need to sew the first signature and stitch over the bookbinding tape strip. For the cover, you can use matboard or heavy cardboard with vellum leather, or cloth spine. Glue the book cover into place and clamp the book to dry. The last thing you have to do is to cut the folded pages.
Pamphlet Binding
Among all those two methods above, pamphlet binding method is considered as the easiest one. You only need to fold the single stack of text weight in half with a bone folding. You need to cut the cardstock cover in ¼ inch wide and 1/8 inch longer than the inner pages. Then, stack the pamphlet together. Mark the center of the pamphlet's spine and two points equidistant from the point and ¾ inch up to 1 inch from each edge of the spine. Put the pamphlet on the folded towel. Pierce those points using an awl. Then, cut a long ribbon and stitch it from the center of the hole and come out to the top hole and back to the bottom and come out of the center hole and then tie it in a knot.
