How Do I Update My Windows Media Center?

    The Process

    • Go to Microsoft's website, and click on the "Get Started" button. It will check your system and make sure you have the current version of Media Center. It will see whether the system is running correctly. If you are missing an update, it will ask permission to download the latest version. Click "Yes," and Windows will take care of the rest.

If your system is not working properly or Windows is not recognizing your version of Media Center, click on "Downloads" on the Media Center site and you can update manually. Click on the links you want to download, and follow the instructions provided.

You can purchase either Windows 7 Home Premium, Ultimate, Professional and Enterprise; or you can buy Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate. To upgrade your operating system at the same time, purchase any of those online or from a retailer. They'll include Windows Media Center as part of the package. If it doesn't have all the updates on start up, it will automatically install them and update itself once installed.
