Title: The Dating Train
Author:P Whitehead

Frank, Karen, Melanie and Dominic met at the appointed time and place for a dry run. The idea was sparked just last week as Frank's dog, €Dog€, made a discovery. Well, he made a combination deposit on some spread out newspapers in Frank's apartment. It's an emergency procedure when Frank comes home late and may not get up at Dog's appointed hour for the rituals of the morning walk to a local doggie friendly poopark.

When cleaning up, Frank was amused at the abstract art of the two body by products that oozed two headlines together with the solid being the exclamation mark. One headline was €Whatever Happened to the Dating Game' and the other was about €Take the Train to Bristol'. What Frank clearly saw was €The Dating Train.€

Those three words echoed around in Frank's bachelor entrepreneurial head all day. €The Dating Train€, had a nice ring to it, a nice flow off the tongue. He typed it into a domain site and it was available. Was this an omen? TheDatingTrain was available. Not knowing for sure why, he purchased the domain. Some ideas were beginning to gel.

Karen, Melanie and Dominic were already sitting after their usual 15 minute greeting drink at the bar. €Sorry guys, Dog just didn't want to make his mark in a timely fashion.€ €Come on Frank, poor Dog has been your excuse for the last two years now, he probably has a complex by now,€ Karen remarked.

Both Melanie and Dominic had similar woof woof remarks regarding the lame overused excuse. €What was it this time Frank, a flash frozen fish fry fillet meal in under ten minutes, buy one, get one free at your local supermarket product idea,€ Dominic wondered? They all knew Frank and his wild and crazy business ideas.

The long time friends from grade school through college have had this once a month every third Saturday morning ritual to meet at a local breakfast nook to catch up and spend the day together. Today was Frank's itinerary plans for the group and he already texted them that today was going to be a train ride to Bristol from their London Paddington station.

The destination was an early evening meal on The Glass Boat in Bristol's historic dock area. The group was intrigued just for the unique day together but secretly they knew something out of the ordinary was cooking and Frank was about to serve up his full course meal about his latest gourmet idea.

The four of them were seated in their rail car. Frank began. €First of all, this isn't just any ordinary train, this is (a mimic fanfare, poor rendition) This Is The Dating Train! Silence. Deadpan silence other than the clicketyclack of their locomotion transportation. Karen, Melanie and Dominic, all single and dreaming of the perfect match one day for themselves, hopefully before the age of 30, are giving Frank blank stares and the silence treatment that he hated.

€Come on guys, it isn't that bad, is it?€ Frank slumped into his seat. I even purchased the url he said,€ feeling dejected yet again. Its ok guys. It was Dog's shitty idea anyhow.

€What did you say, Karen asked, I was distracted? I was visualizing Mr. Perfect sitting across from me while we were both swaying in the experience.€ €He said it was Dog's idea,€ Dominic slowly remarked. Melanie just sat there with a tear running down her beautiful milky white cheek. €Melanie, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset everybody,€ Frank apologized.

€Shut up you damn fool,€ Melanie demanded! That's the most romantic creative, wonderful idea you have ever had!€ Karen and Dominic totally agreed and wanted to hear the whole story, especially Dog's part in it.

The train ride to Bristol, the dining at The Glass Boat and the return to London was the most energetic entrepreneur romantic meeting that not only sparked a combined jointly owned business adventure for the group, but a romance between Frank and Melanie was no longer just friendship based. They became their first €The Dating Train€ married couple!
