    • 1). Brush the area to be bandaged clean and make sure all the hair is going in the same direction to prevent the horse from experiencing any discomfort.

    • 2). Wrap the inner layer of fleece around the leg so it lies flat against the horses leg. The fleece should be placed on the lower portion of the horse's leg, just above the hoof. Hold the cotton in place while you prepare the wrap the bandage.

    • 3). Place the bandage along the top of the fleece, where the horse's cannon bone is, and begin wrapping the leg with the bandage. You should never stretch the fabric wrapping as tight as it can go. A general rule of thumb is to stretch the wrap to about 1 1/5 times the length of the original bandage.

    • 4). Wrap the bandage downwards so that each wrap overlaps the one above it by half the width of the strip of bandage you are using. Wrap the bandage all the way down, covering the fetlock and joint and then wrap it back up so that it is wrapped around the cannon bone, not the horse's tendon.

    • 5). Secure the wrap with the piece of Velcro attached to the wrapping.
