What Is a Heat Diffuser?
- In gas-fired cooking while camping, a heat diffuser is a metal device that ensures the heat from the gas flame is diffused as widely as possible over the underside of metal pans. The heat diffuser consists of a circular metal grille with a metal stand to support the pan. The intention here is to prevent food burning due to too great a concentration of heat.
- It is often necessary to keep chemistry experiments at a particular temperature. Because chemical reactions often generate heat, in order to keep the temperature constant, a heat diffuser is needed.
- Heat diffusers are used in automobiles to keep the temperature of the automobile engine in a reasonable range. The heat diffuser in a car engine is part of the radiator and is usually found close to the engine.
- Electrical circuits often heat up during operation, which can damage their functionality. The temperature of electrical circuits are often controlled by heat diffusers, which are often referred to as 'heat sinks' in the context of computer technology.
