A Step-by-Step for Arabian Drawings
- 1). Draw a medium-sized circle in the upper half of your piece of paper to represent the guideline of the Arabian horse's head. Determine the angle at which you wish to create this drawing, then sketch out the muzzle with a rounded, square-like shape in the appropriate place on the circle.
- 2). Draw a large oval underneath the head of the horse to act as the outline for the body. Attach the head and the body with a slightly bent, straight line to be the draft of the neckline. Use long, light pencil strokes to create the high tail of the Arabian horse on the rear end of the body.
- 3). Smooth out the lines that connect the muzzle of the horse with the head. Add a small, oval-like shape to the end of the muzzle to represent the nostril of this animal. If the Arabian pictured in the reference guide is angled to show both nostrils, sketch out the second feature to match the first.
- 4). Sketch a football-shaped oval on top of the horse's head to create the ear. Create the secondary ear, if pictured, in a similar fashion. Draw the curved line to represent the folded texture of these particular features.
- 5). Draw a small oval below the ears to create the eyes of the horse. Sketch out a smaller circle inside this oval to create the pupils. Just like the ears ---- if the eyes are both pictured in the reference guide, sketch the secondary feature in the same way as the first. Use light pencil strokes until you are confident in the proportions of these two eyes.
- 6). Connect the flattened chin, or bottom of the muzzle, to the body of the horse to thicken the neckline of this animal. Round out the chest using light pencil strokes so that you easily can attach the legs to the body's underside.
- 7). Draw slightly bent vertical lines in the front of the horse's body to guide you through the creation of the legs. Lightly sketch small circles at the joints of each front leg to help you realistically render the movements of these limbs. Draw square-like hooves at the bottom of each leg.
- 8). Clean up the line of the underbelly that connects the horse's front legs to the hind legs. Curve this line in a way that mimics the stomach of the Arabian horse in the picture you are using.
- 9). Create the hind leg that appears closer to the viewer of the drawing with an L-shaped feature. Draw the circular kneecap in the center of this leg to assist you in portraying the joints position. Sketch out the square-like hoof of this hind leg.

Create the second leg, if pictured, using light sketches to place it behind the body of the horse. Round out the butt of the horse so that the body is more peanut-like in shape by this point. Draw short, vertical lines to create the mane that runs from the top of the Arabian's head to the small of the back. - 11
Erase any guidelines that helped you create the horse, and check for any inconsistencies between your drawing and the picture. Trace over all of the intended pencil lines with an ink pen to create a clean and bold look. Let the ink dry, then completely erase any remaining visible marks.
