How to Remove Alkaline Battery Fluid From Fabric
- 1). Lay the fabric on a flat surface. Keep the battery fluid stain facing up.
- 2). Sprinkle baking soda over the fluid until it is completely covered. The baking soda will neutralize the battery acid. Let the baking soda sit on the fabric for five minutes.
- 3). Hold the fabric over a trash can or wastebasket and carefully brush the baking soda off the fabric with paper towels. Discard the paper towels.
- 4). Fill a small container with equal parts cold water and clear ammonia. Dip a clean sponge in the diluted ammonia.
- 5). Blot the area of the stain until saturated. Rinse the ammonia off the fabric with cold water.
- 6). Launder the fabric with 1/4 cup of laundry detergent in the hottest water temperature allowed for that specific fabric and air-dry.
