PSP 2000 LCD Screen Repair Instructions

    • 1). Place the PSP on a soft cloth. Open the game flap on the back and remove any UMD inside. Close the flap. Open the memory stick flap on the left side of the console. Push the memory stick inwards to eject it and remove it from the console.

    • 2). Push the battery release button on the right side of the console and remove the battery cover. Slide your fingernail under the top edge of the battery to release it and remove it from the console. Leave the battery cover off.

    • 3). Pull the flat cover of the analog stick up and away from the PSP to remove it. Place the PSP face down on the soft cloth.

    • 4). Insert a Phillips #000 screwdriver into the screw in the upper right corner of the back of the PSP. Rotate the screwdriver counterclockwise to remove the screw. Repeat on the screws in the upper left corner, bottom right corner and bottom of the PSP.

    • 5). Slide the edge of a utility knife under the warranty sticker in the bottom left corner of the PSP that was covered by the battery. Lift gently upwards to peel back the sticker and unscrew the screw underneath. Do not rip off the warranty sticker.

    • 6). Turn the PSP over and lay it on the cloth. Lift the front cover off of the console.

    • 7). Insert a butter knife into the small opening between the lower left side of the screen and the metal clip holding it in place. Gently tilt the knife away from the screen to release the clip. Repeat on the other four clips.

    • 8). Grip the top of the screen and bring it up and forward. The bottom of the screen will still be attached to the PSP by cables.

    • 9). Insert your fingernail into the black ends of the connectors holding the screen to the console and lift up to open the connectors. Remove the screen from the PSP.

      Slide the bottom of your replacement PSP screen into the PSP casing. Tilt the screen toward you with the cables extending back to the inside of the PSP. Fit the cables into the black connectors and close the clasps.

      Lift the screen and set it into place within the PSP. Press gently on the sides of the screen to secure it in place.

      Place the cover back on the PSP and turn it face down on the cloth. Replace the screws, battery and cover.
