The answer is simple..
...
FEAR.
Now the question as to why do some people suffer through panic attacks for no particular reason? That's a horse of a different color, as they say.
There isn't any one good reason for these panic attacks, because each case is unique as the person who suffers from anxiety.
Some people experience different symptoms of anxiety and it is these symptoms that generate a fear of impending doom.
For instance some people have fears that the will lose consciousness while driving that very thought can cause a panic attack, because they really believe that they will pass out.
As for me I became very anxious when out in public.
I knew in my mind that as soon as I went out to the store I was going to have a panic attack, I would pass out in the store, I wouldn't be able to breathe right.
These of course were only thoughts, that I truly believed to be true.
The truth I was in no danger, I would now say that it is all in my mind.
The anxiety was real, I was nervous about the anxious feelings I had.
But it was the thoughts that caused fear, and it was the fear that lead to the panic attacks.
What is a panic attack? Hearts are pumping fast, breathing is fast and irregular, muscles are tight and fear is high, things look can look strange dizziness set in, brains are high alert.
These symptoms are similar to heart attacks or stroke.
People who have heart attacks know that something is wrong and this thought being a real danger brings on panic that sets them in motion to respond to the danger.
The difference is an anxiety attack is just that provoked by fear, a false fear, of having a heart attack, the fear of passing out dying etc.
Our minds are convinced that something is seriously wrong with our health and well being, and our bodies respond the way they are designed to give us the extra energy we need to get out of a dangerous situation.
So why does my heart pound so hard when I am having a panic attack? Adrenaline gives us a boost of energy, heightens our awareness helps us to respond to danger.
Why Do I feel like I might faint? Fast irregular breathing, hyperventilating too much oxygen can bring this feeling on.
Will I faint? NOT LIKELY we are not designed to faint when we are in danger, we are designed to run, or fight.
Is there anything I can do to stop these panic attacks? YES you can comfort yourself instantly and tell yourself that the feelings you are having are anxiety you will be okay.
Breathe slower let your tension go.
And let you fears go, remember anxiety can not coexist if the mind doesn't if the mind doesn't fear.
You need to rewrite what your mind is telling you.
"Why Do I feel so funny am I going to die?" "Am I going to pass-out"" Rewrite that in your mind as.
"it's okay breathe everything is fine I am just feeling anxious" Give it time it will go away.
